TOWN OF SHALIMAR

Cherokee Park Workshop Minutes

December 11, 2002

In attendance were Mayor Gary Combs, Commissioner Rik Larson, Commissioner John Henderson, Town Manager Tom Burns, Deputy Clerk Tina Smith and resident Sherry Brownlee.

Demolition – The house at 15 Cherokee Road will be vacant at the end of February.  Fire and police training will begin in March.

Trees and Basketball Court – It was decided to make the basketball court 40X50 and the location was also decided on.  The Commission would like to remove as few of the big trees as possible.

Weed out pines – It was decided that some of the trees will have to be cut down around where the basketball court will go.  The mayor suggested having the company that removes the trees look at the remaining trees to weed some of them out and open up some of the areas.

Exercise Area – An exercise equipment catalog was discussed.  The equipment previously picked out may be changed based on money and placement.

Road – A separate entrance road was discussed as the best idea.

Walkway – It was decided that the town will use colored concrete along the entire jogging trail and relocate it to the perimeter of the park.  It was also discussed that the walkway meet up with the pedestrian entrance (adjacent to Gardner Drive ), and use paver stones for the first 25 feet of the pedestrian entrance.

Parking -- The main parking lot on Cherokee Road, where the house sits now, will not be paved.

The workshop unofficially adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
