Town of Shalimar

Tidbits -- September 2002

Notes from the Mayor -

First and foremost I would like to congratulate our Town of Shalimar Commissioner, Elaine Tucker, for her election victory for this district (district 2). Elaine has served you well as Finance Commissioner, Police Commissioner and Mayor Pro Tem. She will be missed on the town commission but she will be able to do more for our cities from the County Commission.

Soon, you'll notice construction on Clifford Drive to mitigate the flooding problem in that area. Also, we have received another State Grant to upgrade facilities in Cherokee Park. Anyone at town hall can provide you the details on both these projects. In closing, please don't hesitate to email me (combs@arc.net) or give a call (217-5180) if you have a personal concern or you would just like to praise one of our outstanding employees.

Notes from Commissioner Tucker -

To all the residents of Shalimar - I want to THANK YOU for supporting me and working with me to make Shalimar the best Town in Okaloosa County! I am proud of what we have accomplished, proud of our outstanding Town staff and police department, and proud to have served as your Commissioner. As of November 12th I will no longer be a Shalimar Commissioner but I am not going away - on November 19th I will be sworn in as Okaloosa County Commissioner District 2. I look forward to serving you on the Board of County Commissioners - please stay in touch!

Notes from Commissioner Henderson -

The Town would like to personally thank our community businesses that contributed either monetarily or goods and services to the Emerald Coast Poker Run and their associated charitable organizations.

Bill Roberts Insurance Agency ERA American Realty
Big Apple Bagels Albertson’s
Tropical Smoothie

We are indeed fortunate to have these businesses in our community. Please continue to support them.

Notes from the Police Department -

Hello from the Police Department. I wanted to let everyone in town know that it is against Shalimar ordinance to park your vehicle on the roadside. It is also against Florida State Law to park your vehicle on a sidewalk. If you need excess parking for a special event, please inform our office.

A “Click it or Ticket” campaign just ended and the Shalimar Police Department issued a lot of citations for people not buckling their safety belts.
